The Call of the Muezzin

A Muezzin (Muzim) is a person chosen at a mosque to lead and recite the call to prayer (adhan) for every event of prayer and worship in the mosque.  Below is the Muezzin’s call to prayer 5 times per day to the faithful:

“God is most great!
I testify there is no other God but God.
I testify that Mohammad is the messenger of God.
Come and Pray!
Come and Flourish!
God is most great!
There is no God but God!”

God is the wellspring from which everything in creation comes.  He wishes the faithful to flourish and prosper.  He desires that we live in peace with all other people.  God is Spirit.  God is Light.  God is love and compassion!

In Islam, God has 99 attributes that some call “names.”  Among them are these two:

Al-Wadud (The Loving)
Ar-Rahman (The Exceedingly Compassionate)
